HISTORY
The County of Haliburton and the lower tier Municipalities (Algonquin Highlands, Dysart et.al., Minden Hills and Highlands East) are examining Short Term Rental Accommodations (STRA) in the County with the view towards implementing a STRA program that would be administered and enforced by Haliburton County.
In 2021, the County of Haliburton developed a plan retained J.L. Richards & Associates Ltd. (JLR) to assist with this study. The study has four objectives, as follows:

2. Technical Literature Review
3. Analysis of Context
4. Public Consultation
The study was initiated earlier this year, with a kick off presentation to County Council on January 26, 2022. At the January meeting, County Council considered the recommended work plan for the review, provided feedback on the work plan and shared context and preliminary perspectives on STRA within the County.  The Survey content was presented to County Council on March 23 and the report can be viewed here:
