Kennisis Lakes – Lands Committee Update on Our Recent Acquisition of Soap Pond Lands 
The Legal Transfer of Soap Pond Lands to the KLCOA was completed in 2022 as part of the KLCOA Lands Committee “Protecting Open Space” initiative.
A Land Use Principles Workshop was promoted by E-Blast and held via an online meeting in October 2022 and the following general principles were proposed:Soap Pond Lands will be protected in their Natural State.Lands will be Open for Public UseRetain Portage access to Lipsy LakeNo Motorized Terrestrial Vehicles Permitted (except Winter crossing by Snowmobile access on the Lipsey portage to Westshore)The Land Use Principles have been summarized by the KLCOA Lands Committee and reviewed by the KLCOA BoD and are now available for KLCOA Members to comment.  
The Soap Pond Land use principles were documented in meeting minutes (LINK HERE) and have been summarized in the proposed Soap Pond Lands signage (Link Here
If you have any comments, please provide them by e-mail to  (EMAIL) by June 15, 2023.  We will be submitting the final Soap Pond Land Use Principles to the KLCOA BoD for Approval in July 2023. Following approval, signage will be prepared and installed on the Soap Pond Lands. 
The good news is that there are no property tax implications for the KLCOA with this land acquisition.
