FIREWORKS – AUGUST 5 – CANCELLED

FIREWORKS – AUGUST 5 – CANCELLED

We are very disappointed to announce that the Annual Fireworks show is cancelled for 2023

There is a lead time of at least 3 weeks to meet all of the  requirements to produce a fireworks show.  The fireworks committee has been weighing factors and possibilities since the fire ban was lifted. These conversations included the Firechief, Dan Chumbley and pyrotechnic expert, Steve Ashfield.

The consensus is that the hard rainfalls that have happened recently may not have sufficiently soaked into the ground and it is likely that another fire ban will be implemented this summer.

As wildfires continue to blaze across the country, many Canadians are displaced and now homeless. In support of those affected by the fires and all the men and women working to keep them under control, the KLCOA Board has voted to cancel the  fireworks event for this summer.

Although it is a time honoured tradition, we are being mindful of the possible reinstatement of the local fire ban and being considerate of the demands placed on local firefighters as they are called to travel to those areas most in need. Thanks for your understanding.
