SHORELINE PRESERVATION BYLAW UPDATE

SHORELINE PRESERVATION BYLAW UPDATE

On August 24, 2022, at the County of Haliburton Regular Council meeting, the updated by-law to protect our shorelines was passed by Council with 75% of the Councillors supporting.  A final report prepared by County staff was presented to Council by the Haliburton Director of planning, containing the updated by-law, implementation details and a summary of the history of the by-law development.  The report also contains sections that describe the by-law requirements in simplified terms and some examples of projects that would require permits and those that would be exempt.

The County will now work toward an implementation of the new “Shoreline Preservation By-Law” (By-law 4123) with a start date of April 1, 2023.
