REMINDER – With the current lower water levels, more navigation hazards are present!
The KLCOA Hazard and Navigation Marker Program operates from the Spring to the Fall of each year and individual markers are managed by community volunteers.
All Hazard Markers and No Wake Markers will soon be removed for winter storage, typically around Thanksgiving Weekend. Some have been removed early, to accommodate the marker tender’s schedules.
The Hazard Marker program does not guarantee or even suggest that unmarked rock locations can be safely navigated. The primary responsibility for a safe boating experience rests with the individual operator of a watercraft. Vessel operators should use common sense when travelling near shorelines, islands and areas displaying tell‐tale signs of possible shallow water and/or underwater hazards, which may not be marked with buoys.
