Algae Blooms – Important Information You Should Know

As you may be aware there have been multiple reports of Blue Green Algae on lakes across Haliburton County this month.

To be clear there have been no reports of blooms on either Kennisis Lake or in the immediate area. If you are aware of a bloom on Kennisis, or suspect there is one, please advise us of the location as soon as practical by sending an email to our stewardship lead – Jim Prince – klcoastewardship@gmail.com

Here is a link to some photographs and descriptions that will help in identifying blue green algae blooms. Also note the recommendations in the event toxic blue green algae blooms are discovered. Blue Green Algae – identify & actions

The KLCOA will advise our membership as quickly as possible should we become aware of the existence of blue green algae blooms on either of the Kennisis Lakes.
