Kennisis Shorelines
Our waterfront properties on the Kennisis Lakes are beautiful places to enjoy. We know that our property values are directly proportional to our water quality.
The KLCOA has been sponsoring ongoing programs related to Shoreline Health. Additional details at Stewardship Shorelines.
The KLCOA with support from Watersheds Canada is sponsoring two demonstration shoreline restoration sites in 2018. The objective is to identify candidate locations that would benefit from:
• Shoreline re-naturalization
• Damaged shoreline restoration
• Re-naturalization to eliminate Goose habitat and reduce the Canada goose population
Shoreline Restoration – HOW TO PARTICIPATE
Submit your request to participate and agree to a few criteria:
1) Your Shoreline is needy – Damaged, natural vegetation removed, too much grass, etc.
2) Commitment to Naturalization – Shoreline naturalization will be maintained by the property owner
3) Promote your property as KLCOA as demo site – Owners would engage and welcome follow-up
4) Shared Effort and Cost – Restoration Project Cost ~$2000
– Owner contribution ~$500 and/or sweat equity – planting, site preparation
Please submit your request to Jim Prince at [email protected] by July 13. Indicate your specific interest in the program and when you would like to target the restoration.
The KLOCA has established a set of selection criteria for the applications. We will notify all applicants and the successful candidates shortly after the application period closes on July 13.
